There
is no need to hire an outside company to perform a wood destroying insect
evaluation for you when you order a HouseMaster home inspection. All of
are inspectors are trained to perform the inspection and provide their
findings according to industry standards on NPMA Form #33. This is the
most widely recognized reporting format and is accepted by FHA/VA/HUD and
all mortgage lenders. In fact, most mortgage lenders insist on a WDI
inspection as part of the lending process.
What are wood destroying insects, you may ask? Well, the insects most people relate to wood boring are termites. However, we are also concerned with other insects such as carpenter ants, powder post beetles and carpenter bees. The evaluation we provide is specifically for wood destroying insects and does not include nuisance insects or pests. If we see evidence of infestation of other types, we will note it in your inspection report, but it will not fall into the category of NPMA #33. HouseMaster is an inspection/engineering firm and we do not provide treatment for wood destroying insects or repairs to the damage that they inflict. We have no vested interest in finding wood destroying insects and merely provide advice regarding infestation and possible treatment methods.
